Giveaway Day!

Chanukah like many holidays features delicious foods. Hot latkes (potato pancakes) topped with sour cream and applesauce come to mind. This year to add to my holiday collection of items I decided to make a set of potholders using some of my Chanukah fabric stash. For Giveaway Day 2009 I am offering the two potholders pictured here. The first is a pincher made using a keykalou.etsy.com pattern and the second is my own square design and measures 7 inches across. Both potholders have a layer of batting and insul bright and loop for hanging.

I’d like to know what handmade items you’ve made to decorate home for the holidays? Leave your comments here between December 2, 2009 and December 6, 2009 at noon. I’ll use the random number generator to pick and winner and mail the potholders out on Monday the 7th. I do ship internationally. So please share you traditions and ideas.

Chanukah Décor

Every year I wonder how to decorate our apartment to celebrate Chanukah. Aside from placing our collection of menorahs throughout the apartment (we are up to 5 now) and bring out the two Chanukah dishcloths our place pretty much looks the same. Last year I added a fabric banner to the mix. I made it from two coordinating prints of home décor fabric and used felt for the letters. I’d like to add a new piece each year but don’t have any good ideas yet.

Holiday Fair

A few weeks ago my temple hosted a tea and shuk. This also marked my first attempt at craft fairs. I had no idea just how difficult it would be to set a table of my items. Before I do another one of these I’ll have to collect a few display items.

On a separate note now that Sew Jewcy is a real business I’ve got to blog on the semi regular bases. As a start I will be participating in a give-a-way event organized by Sew Mama Sew one of my favorite blog and on-line sources for fabric.
